Centers for Gastroenterology’s Commitment to Awareness, Education, and Support on World IBS Day

Each year, on May 19th, the globe commemorates World IBS Day, an important date that holds immense significance to us at the Centers for Gastroenterology. We want to use this day to further our mission of driving awareness, providing education, and extending support to those who battle Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Our Collective Stride Towards IBS Recognition

At Centers for Gastroenterology, we have a strong presence in Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and Steamboat Springs. Our teams in these branches are eager to raise awareness of this holiday. This day enables us to speak even louder about Irritable Bowel Syndrome, its impact on lives, the importance of its recognition, and the need for more focused research.

What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by a combination of symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea, often occurring in cycles. While the exact cause of IBS is not fully understood, it is believed to involve a combination of factors, including abnormal gastrointestinal motility, visceral hypersensitivity, altered gut microbiota, and psychosocial factors such as stress.

Awareness is the First Step

For us, World IBS Day is more than just a commemoration. It is our opportunity to raise a louder conversation about this chronic disease that affects more than 10% of the global population. By fostering an open discussion on IBS, we aim to break the societal stigma attached to it and encourage people to seek necessary medical attention.

Educational Resources for Better Management

We commit to empowering everyone’s patients and caregivers alike with resources to handle the IBS challenge better. From understanding symptoms and causes to learning about various diagnostic tools and management options, our educational materials aim to guide you through your IBS journey.

Dealing with a condition like IBS is not always straightforward; that’s why our commitment extends to providing unwavering support, awareness, and education.
